Vaccination and Deworming
It is much better to prevent diseases than cure the already existing. These are the most important prophylactics:
Vaccination
All adult felines should be vaccinated once a year. A proper vaccine is always selected by a veterinarian. Only healthy and dewormed felines can be vaccinated.
Little kittens are vaccinated twice: at the age of 9 weeks and later at the age of 12 weeks.
It is important to remember that kittens who have not been vaccinated two times MUST NOT be let outside. Since they have not yet acquired sufficient immunity against viral diseases, they can easily get sick. For this to happen, the kittens even do not have to come into direct contact with other animals. It is enough for a kitten merely to walk in the place where a sick animal passed some time ago.
Deworming
Adult cats must be dewormed 4 times a year, e.i. every 3 months. Tiny kittens must be for the first time dewormed at the age of 6 weeks. Further deworming treatment should be determined by your veterinarian, because every case is individual.
It is important to know that adult pets who have intestinal parasites most of the times look clinically healthy. However, microscopic worm eggs are passed in the pets’ faeces thus contaminating the environment. Most of these eggs are dangerous to humans and especially children. Therefore, timely precautions help protect not only your pet but also your and your children’s health.
