Scottish Folds have extremely sweet and kind personalities. They have small voices and are not very vocal at all. Their faces are extremely expressive, and the well-trained owner will soon know exactly what their furry companion needs, without need for screeching ‘miaooowwws’. A soft murmur is all that you will hear from a Scottish Fold cat or kitten.
This breed enjoys being with humans and is an ideal companion whether to children or to a lonely elderly person trying to cope alone. They are loveable and friendly and show deep affection in their own unique way.
Our much loved rescued stray Jessy (a short-haired black and white puss we adopted) was vocal in the extreme. She would not only come and jump on the bed to wake us up when she wanted to go out or be fed, but she would unleash a string of pitiful calls as though she was suffering the agony of all agonies. Along with this very loud wailing (which always woke up the baby) she would gently swipe my cheek with her paw, or nibble on my ear, purring heavily. Needless to say, this always had the desired effect, and Jessie got her way. Scottish Folds are much more subtle in attracting your attention than our dear Jessy.
If you are looking for a family pet which will fit in with almost any home situation, will adapt easily to other pets, and would be comfortable in a home full of chaos and confusion, look no further than the Scottish Fold. They are serene, calm and tranquil and settle in well to almost any type of family situation. This breed is known not to panic or be highly strung, and their temperament is loving and kind.
