If you are a family divided between dog lovers and cat lovers, this breed is likely to satisfy all the requirements of both. They even seem to enjoy a long 'walkies' on a secure lead with their owners.

The Siamese breed are extremely affectionate and make entertaining and often quite dominating pets. Even into old age these beautiful blue eyed creatures are still lively active and playful.

picture of Siamese catA Siamese will always want to be involved in whatever you as his or her owner are doing, they are an energetic and friendly creature and make excellent if demanding pets. So if you don’t have time to lavish all of your attention of your Siamese, they can become distressed and sad.

This breed of cat has great character. They are playful, intelligent and affectionate with a deeply loving nature and an incredible beauty, particularly the eyes. They also are very often quite vocal and 'talk' to their owners. If there is something they need, they will let you know in no uncertain terms. Whether it is to go out, to remind you it is tea time, or just that they want some affection, this cat bridges both dog and cat character perfectly.

Some people have compared the very distinctive 'maiow' of the Siamese to that of a baby crying. It can be quite haunting too. They are generally a very affectionate breed and highly people friendly, often demanding much attention from their adopted families.

They can appear quite aloof with new people, but will slowly be won over, so don’t forget to allow them enough time to make up their own minds about whether someone is worthy of their attention.

It would be difficult to make the Siamese cat do anything they don’t actually want to do - whether it be climbing your brand new curtains or opening your kitchen cabinets. So you will have to be very creative to be the master of this active alert and intelligent companion.

Just the last few months, a stray siamese.....we call him Romeo because he is quite handsome....he still has his stuff, has been coming around the house. We feed him, but he doesn`t seem to get along with our two female indoor cats, Chica and Mimzy. He is a handsome boy and we don`t know for sure about him. We are both older folks and would hate to upset our happy home with the females. Oh well, he hangs around the house longing for attention and I give him all the pets he needs. I think he is quite happy being outdoors and free. He lets me check him out for fleas and earmites. So far so good. He is a smart boy. Not quite sure what to do with him because he enjoys his freedom and an animal shelter seems to be out of the question. But he lives here in Florida where it gets quite warm and always have fresh water with icecubes and food nearby. Love this cat! freedomeee

Great cat!

I have a Siamese/Tabby mix. He always lets me know when he wants to come into the bedroom or just wants attention. He can be very annoying at times though, when he wants to see me mad he'll look at me and just open his mouth, not making a noise- I blame this on my babying him when he was a kitten and when he hurt one of his legs. All in all he is a great friend, and I love him!

I found my young stud at the local shelter. He was quite thin so I took him "home". He is now the best part of my day. He wakes me when it's time for breakfast and will not give up until I get up. If I don't then he brings me fresh breakfast in bed, which is a nightmare to clean up. He has the most amazing character and I find myself having conversations with him. I have never met such an intelligent creature. I don't know what I would do if something were to happen to him. As it is I am already a bit over protective. But a dad's gotta do what a dad's gotta do! I love Mr. Bing to bits.

Are Siamese cats good mousers?

MELISSA PETERS, 15 Sep 2009 07:53

MY CATS MOTHER WAS A TABBY, BUT THE FATHER WAS, VERY OBVIOUSLY, A SIAMESE. SHE IS THE LIGHT OF MY LIFE. SHE IS VERY LOYAL TO ME AND LOVES ME JUST AS MUCH AS I LOVE HER. I GOT HER AS AN ADULT CAT. SHE HAD BEEN SPADE AND DECLAWED. SHE LOVES IT OUTSIDE, AND IF YOU DON'T LET HER OUT SHE WILL SCREAM AND SCREAM AT YOU UNTIL YOU HAVE NO CHOICE. I TELL EVERYBODY THAT KATIE IS THE BOSS, THIS IS NOT MY HOUSE, THIS IS KATIES HOUSE, AND ALL THE STUFF IN IT IS KATIES STUFF, AND KATIE IS NOT MY CAT, BUT RATHER, I AM KATIES PERSON!!! SHE LIKES FOR US TO GO FOR WALKS. SHE IS ALWAYS WAITING ON THE PORCH BANISTER WHEN I COME HOME. SHE DOES NOT ANSWER TO "KITTY KITTY", YOU HAVE TO CALL "KITTY KATIE" FOR HER TO COME. I DO NOT KNOW WHAT I WOULD DO WITHOUT HER, SINCE SHE RUNS THIS HOUSEHOLD!!! I LOVE HER DEARLY, AND WOULD BE LONESOME WITHOUT HER!!!

As a child I had an adorable Siamese tabby. A very intelligent, affectionate, loyal and independent cat (he was an undoctored tom for his whole life). He died at the age of 16 and I was heartbroken. 13 years later I saw his doppelganger in an online advert and the little lady turned out also to have a Siamese mother. She is the absolute spit of Ol' Tom and very, very affectionate, a first rate climber and mouser. Her brother (same Siamese mother but different father) is jet black and also adorable. I had made my mind up to get her just on the advert alone (and before I knew she had Siamese blood) but when I went to 'view' her I saw a black and tabby ball of fluff rolling around the floor. They were inseparable then and still are now. They absolutely love one another and at 3 years old still cuddle up to sleep and wash together. They are never more than 4 feet apart and chatter all day to each other and to me. They are intelligent little children, going through their teenage rebellion right now, crying for attention and putting on an amusing attention-seeking show. The girl is a true cat, the boy is special. I do not favour but his intelligence is quite amazing. They both know far too many words for their own good or mine, I'm not quite sure. He understands how to undo complex knots and take keys off of keyrings (maybe I should leave them the pc when I go out and see what he does!). Anyway, Siamese cross breeds are the best in my opinion.

I never had a cat before, only dogs. soneone found her in a water drain, and she was wild, no one could touch her.. I had to put on leather gloves to pick her up... We were afraid to keep her in the house so we had this rather large covered cage outside and I would go there each day and feed her, and she would try to take my hand off... Till one day, she managed to get our of the cage and she ran away... She was as big as a white rat and it was pouring rain outsiide. I put up flyers and one of my neighbors on the next block saw one and called me, saying I think I have your cat, but I dare not touch it... I went over with my leather gloves on and retrieved her. I put her on my shoulder and gave her a good talking to. That this was not good for her to do and this was her home and her backyard and she had better just stop it... She looked at me, like I was crazy , but also knew that I came and rescued her from the rain and cold.. she just snuggled up to my neck and that was it. She is the best cat...she stays in the yard and uses the doggy door that was there. We do not have a litter box. She just goes in and out when she pleases and climbs our big tree and lays out there, she is one very lucky cat and one very happy cat...But she is not social at all. It took her 6 years to come out of hiding to see who had come to our house. Now she will come out, but you cannot touch her or play with her..When I go away my neighbor comes over 2x's a day to feed her, but she never see her, she only see that the food is gone.. I do think she cries the whole time I am gone, because when I get back her meow sounds different, like she has a sore throat...We cannot put her in a kennel, as she loves the outside way too much...When I am at home she follows me around till I sit down, then she is either in my lap or next to me.. She is my cat only though and my mate does not like her at all and wants me to get rid of her. I was told, if I did she would not make it... So I have a Cat now for good, and I do love her...

We found our kitten in Dothan, AL on a very busy HWY. So we named him lucky. He is colored up like a siamese but he doesn't have blue eyes. Where ever I go he is always on my heels. When I go to my room and shut the door he will get on the arm of the couch and paw at the door trying to open it. He doesn't like to be by himself. I have had all kinds of cats before but never one quit like this one. He likes my little 6yr old. Every time she gets a bath he wants to get one with her. I have never had a cat that liked water before. He loves to run all over the house. He is a climber though I have to try and keep him off my table and kitchen counters. We keep him in our bathroom at night or he will wake you up by biting you. He loves to bite and scratch my little one. I think he is trying to play and show her affection but the wrong way. He also loves to carry thing around the house. I find my little girls socks and small toys (anything not bigger that him) all over where Lucky plays and totes them off. He is very entertaining and we have grown to love him very much.

Ming Shao showed up in the neighborhood last summer, I figured that he belonged to somebody. As it's gotten colder, and he got hungrier, he started hanging around more and more, until the point where he's our new upstairs cat. This is my third Siamese, I absolutely love this guy, his paws look like he has mismatched socks on, and he's got a small white diamond between his gorgeous blue eyes. This guy's a keeper !

I have had a siamese cat before, and I had to euthanize him due to severe health issues-I was devestated so I got another one. I picked up a beautiful Seal Point Siamese with big blue eyes from the local pound-he is a handful and very mischevious-wants to play in the middle of the night and do what he can to deprive me of sleep-drives me crazy,, follows me all over the house, likes to climb on my kitchen counter, get into my cabinets, and now he wants to climb the Christmas tree. Grrrrrrr!! I dont remember my last Siamese being this much trouble. The vet says I may need to get another cat to entertain him and keep him company when I am at work. This cat is unbelievably smart and almost does stuff on purpose to annoy me. But I still love him and I just have to deal with it.

any info from someone who has a himilyian-siamese cross

Gayle, 25 Jan 2010 01:15

In September last year I gave a home to two blue point Siamese cats. Their owner had just died and the family had put them in a cat shelter. As older cats (they're 12), they weren't wanted, and many people look for a single cat rather than a brother and sister. I took Luki and Simi home with me, and have never regretted it. Luki is a big rough tough tiger boy who is really a sissy and loves cuddles. Simi is a tiny delicate princess who thunders through the apartment at 2am and swats Luki. They usually sleep on my bed (dead legs anyone?) and climb into my lap for cuddles. They fitted into our lifestyle and lives so well, it feels like they've always been there.

My boyfriend has a Siamese mix, who’s definitely a one person cat. The look on the cat’s face when he cuddles with my boyfriend is pure love and elation. After six patient months I am slowly making head way towards making friends with him too. At least he’s stopped using claws when he boxes me. He’s a character and there’s never a dull moment watching him. As he gets older and begins to settle down I think we have a good chance of being friends. In any case I've fallen in love with him, even if I'm not his number one person.

Are Siamese good mousers? Well Dexter, my red point siamese lives with me on a farm in central England. He spends a great deal of his time hunting in the fields and brings home everything from small rodents to rabbits as big as himself! It must be difficult with being so white but I think he makes up for it with his intelligence. When he's home he is what you expect from a siamese, with a big voice and much affection. He will follow me for miles and likrs to jump on my shoulder - a shock when I'm not expectting it!
