cat peeing on floor

My cat has all the traits of a maine coon cat....he is around 20lbs and very large "leo" is a very loving friendly cat who likes to get on your lap and follows me around like a dog. We have a huge problem with Leo he always goes Poop in the litter but will not Pee in it no matter what we try he will always go on the floor... or if we leave clothes on the floor he will go on them i have seen him go on the floor right in front of me. He has had problems 2x with crystals but thta is not his problem all the time with the crystels he goes and hides wich is not of the norm for him so we know when that is happening. Does anyone have any thoughts or suggestions.

have you tryied using puppy pads on the floor let him pee then put the pee on the pad then move it to the litter box

I don't want to alarm you, but often times when a cat pees outside of the box, it could be a sign that something is wrong. Maybe a bladder or kidney infection. Or in the case of my poor old 15 year old cat, cancer. Good luck.
