Milk And Cream OK For Cats?

As a special treat, and if we are having it ourselves, our puss Mimi gets a saucer of cream sometimes. Like if we have a pudding with cream, then a save a saucerful for her for after dinner.

She loves it, and follows me around the kitchen from the second she sees the carton coming out of the fridge.

But I read somewhere that you should not give cream to cats ? But it would seem cruel to me to deprive Mimi of her little treats sometimes.

What do you others think ? Do you give your cat cream?

My wife always gives our little cats cream, not every day, but on the odd occasion we have it ourselves, like for pudding on Sunday Lunch.

We have noticed no harmful effects, and they obviously love it, licking the saucer completely clean several times.

Our cats are six years old and they have been having it since they were kittens. I believe the calcium in the milk/cream is perfect for ensuring they develop their bones correctly and builds strong bones.

Maybe if there is a vet who pops in here sometimes, they could confirm this ?

Thanks

Si

Mr. Bing sometimes wakes me a second time after feeding him just so I can give him some milk. If you put the kettle on he knows the milk has to make an appearance somewhere along the line. And he knows exactly why the fridge was invented. MILK!

I read on Wikipedia that cats are lactose intolerant, or become so six weeks after birth. Not all cats though.

Do a search on Wikipedia or Ask.com.
