Shy Maine Coon-Only Comes Out At Night

I recently adopted a 3 year old Maine Coon from my neighbor. She has 2 dogs and they terrorized the cat so he basically lived under her bed for a couple of years. I've only had Paulie a month and a half but we've made a lot of progress. He's very affectionate and gets on well with my other cats - especially my male cat Dash. They race around the house together and he even curls up with Dash. What I haven't been able to change is the fact that during the day, Paulie refuses to come out from under my bed when I'm there. So, I've been going to bed at 7 for the past month so that the cat will come out and spend some time with me. Any suggestions out there for us?
